Read More About Our History

IntelliGenesis was an integral member in the National Security Agency’s (NSA) efforts to drive capabilities throughout the Intelligence Community in their mission operations spaces, research and development and within their early Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab. The AI Lab was the organization tasked with solving the hardest problems that traditional computing could not handle. IntelliGenesis researched and developed tools that employed capabilities utilizing Bayesian networks, Hidden Markov Models, Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) Maps, Expert Systems, and early Neural Networks. Additionally, IntelliGenesis’ Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) began generating new tradecraft to rapidly employ very early stage “Big Data Analytics” within R&D, SIGINT Development and Cyber mission areas. All of these techniques were applied to mission problems and deployed as part of systems that reached thousands of users across the Intelligence Community (IC). Rapidly responding to an explosion of data generation from smart phones and mobile applications entering the marketplace, our tools were able to process enormous volumes of structured and unstructured data sets to aid analysts by enhancing search capabilities, identifying patterns, and detecting anomalies. All of these techniques were applied and drove mission success across all mission areas and reached thousands of users across the Intelligence Community (IC).

As data volumes continued to skyrocket, cloud processing became a requirement for processing and the go-to solution for efficiently handling throughput. IntelliGenesis was once again at the forefront of this technological revolution. Our domain experts and tool developers were chosen to be among the first to be migrated to NSA’s corporate cloud environment. We worked hand-in-hand with data acquisitions, processing, and storage teams to effectively identify required data collection needs at the edge and ingest that collection to the mission Cloud Frameworks teams to implement our tools in the Hadoop environment, processing data through the Map/Reduce paradigm and migrating our traditional SQL-based data store to noSQL key-value stores. This enabled unified data marking and further expanded the amount of data that could be shared to other IC partners.

Our work identified numerous issues in existing cloud frameworks and capability gaps when compared to legacy systems. To help meeting these needs, IntelliGenesis also had developers working on the framework itself to close the capability gaps and provide necessary features to not only IntelliGenesis developers, but all cloud developers IC-wide.

As the AI revolution has consumed the industry, IntelliGenesis has continued to pioneer these technologies by developing cutting edge capabilities for users in the unclassified space while remaining focused on supporting the DOD mission. We began formulating a plan to to provide our technical experts a platform to develop, demonstrate and delivery capabilities in the AI and Cyber Physical. We acquired a company and its’ technology to provide cyber physical training and scenario support to warfighters and critical infrastructure designers, implementors and owner/operators to expand awareness and critical skills needed to protect these systems. As the AI field began its’ rapid expansion and cutting-edge capabilities for users in the commercial sector we identified the need to bring those capabilities to our DoD mission partners in an unclassified space. Our AI capabilities powered applications for the IC, Air Force, Navy, Office of Naval Research, and Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO). These applications used a wide range of AI techniques and models to support use cases such as:

  • Collaborative Filtering to predict the future behavior of malicious cyber actors
  • Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to identify veterans at high risk for suicide based on their leave usage, promotion history, performance reviews, and other personnel data
  • Autonomous Agents in game-based learning for urban combat scenarios

Today…

IntelliGenesis is utilizing everything we’ve learned to develop a host of powerful cybersecurity capabilities. Our AI models are answering the hardest questions in cybersecurity and defending our nation’s most critical networks. But it’s not just good enough to provide a black box that outputs answers. Users need to understand the results they see, and they need to learn to trust the system that generated those results. IntelliGenesis is focused on building that trust by providing comprehensive explanations and justifications for its AI results utilizing generative AI and Large Language Models.

We are leveraging our extensive experience with AI, Cybersecurity, and Supporting the Mission to build systems that enable users not only in the DOD but also other UG Government agencies and the Defense Industrial Base. We are productizing these tools to make our AI capabilities accessible to anyone who needs them.
